Sweet and short. I would have like more details on how Isabeau got her gift, but other than that it was an enjoyable read.

I just read Dissension by Adrienne Monson. I loved it so much, that I was offered a copy of Eyes of Persuasion which I loved as well. I loved Lady Isabeau Maybrick, she was one of my favorite characters that I read this year. She was strong, fierce, and intelligent. Unfortunately, despite all this, she was under her uncle's abusive grasp. Eyes of Persuasion is fast paced and the only negative I have about it is I wish it was longer since it was only a novella. I would love if it became a series someday!
Lady Isabeau was very lucky to have one of the best maids I have ever seen, Meg. Meg helped her out so much and was very loyal and kind. Everett Radcliff was the perfect gentleman and the man of any woman's dreams!
I also liked Lady Isabeau since she was a wallflower. Lady Isabeau had special purple eyes, that helped her persuade people, but she never really used this as an evil advantage. This is full of paranormal and historical romance elements, but there is also a lot of adventure. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough on this one!
I received Eyes of Persuasion in return for an honest review from the author. Lady Isabeau Maybrick spends her days pretending to be a high society but during her free time and night she’s working as a spy. Her parents had been murdered so she was forced into the custody of her uncle who’s gambling debts are vast. He’s dropped her off in hopes that she can earn extra money on her back to pay of his debt it’s not like he cares what happens to her. When the chance to get rid of her at last finally happens he’s only to excited to marry her off.
Resigned that she’s going to have to be married Isabeau never expected to meet Everett Radcliff or that he would be in need of her spy services. As Isabeau bounces from working in his company to social engagements the two find more than they were looking for when it all started. What will happen when Everett leaves for Portsmouth for good? Will they find the man who has taken something from both of them?
I love Isabeau she’s a strong smart young woman with a special gift that makes her very unique and a perfect prize to be had. I had hoped that Everett would be more than just an employer for her and it actually works out. I love Meg she’s a great support for all the trials that Isabeau has to endure and she needed someone on her side taking care of her.
I admit this one has been sitting on my shelf long than I had expected due to other commitments. However I’m pleased to say that Eyes of Persuasion doesn’t disappoint while a short novel the story isn’t rushed and well written. I found the concept unique and I was captivated by Isabeau as a character and found her easy to connect with. The story is quick paced supernatural mystery with a little sweet romance mixed in and just enough action to keep you wanting more. The author has done a beautiful job creating a story that captures the heart as well as the imagination. I very much enjoyed the author’s writing style it flows from start to finish to end perfectly.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down! I look forward to more books by Adrienne Monson!

I did love this story. My only regret was that it wasn't longer, giving me more time to enjoy this world and more importantly, the people involved. It was, however, a page-turner for me, though I was forced to put my kindle down at one point because the battery needed to be recharged. At half charge, I picked it up again when I went to bed at midnight and spent the next two hours finishing it. Yeah, even then I wanted more. It felt slightly rushed - short and sweet - but sweet indeed.
I really enjoyed this historical romance. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. Isabeau's parents were murdered and she is taken in by her brutal uncle who repeatedly beats her and attempts to sell her to a brothel. Her uncle demands she turn over her earnings to him. Isabeau uses her gift of persuasion and convinces the brothel owner to let her make money for him as an investigator. Looking into her eyes causes certain people to do her bidding and she uses this gift in her work. She assumes the persona of a young boy named Jack when she works as an investigator. Her uncle forces her betrothal to Lord Carlisle, an older man she doesn't love. She doesn't understand why a man like Carlisle would even want her, but suspects that her uncle is up to no good in arranging the match. Considered a rather plain wallflower, Isabeau meets a wealthy man named Everett Radcliff at a party and finds herself instantly attracted to him. Nobody has ever paid her any attention before. Radcliff hires Jack to investigate an embezzler in his company, who's threatening to bankrupt his business. He has no idea he's hired Isabeau. Their attraction deepens when they dance together at her engagement party. This is a fast, easy read. I highly recommend it!
